Equine Preventive Care
We believe prevention is the best way for your equine to stay in good health. From hoof maintenance to dental care, our equine wellness services will keep your animals comfortable and healthy at Tolo Veterinary Clinic.
Wellness Exams
Our veterinary team recommends regular physical exams to ensure your horse, donkey, pony, or mule’s well-being. Our equine wellness exams include but are not limited to:
- Dental examination
- Ear and eye inspection
- Vital sign testing
- Deworming
- Hoof inspection
- Flexion testing
- Necessary diagnostic tests
In addition to a complete physical examination, we will ask questions about diet, environment, and social interactions. These conversations will help our veterinary staff determine the best plan to keep your bird healthy.
Equine Dental Care
Equine Dental Care
Horse and other equine teeth keep erupting throughout their life. We recommend regular dental maintenance to prevent your animal from experiencing discomfort caused by sharp or uneven wear on their teeth. To prevent this, we recommend regular dental equilibrations (floating).
We will begin the procedure by sedating your animal to keep them calm. After sedation, our skilled equine veterinarian will file the sharp edges to restore proper dental health. We will also perform a thorough dental inspection during this time to ensure there are no damaged or infected teeth needing removal.
Hoof Care
Overgrown hooves are uncomfortable for equines and may lead to split hooves and lameness in extreme cases. We will offer a treatment plans for your horse, mule, donkey, or pony if we notice a need for further care.
Health Certificates and Coggins Testing
Global Vet Link allows us to complete online Coggins forms, and also the Extended Equine Validity Health certificate (6 months). This certificate is currently valid in 36 states.
